King of the Court works best for a competitive group that wants the ranking to change visibly every round, not just at the end. It rewards momentum: win on the King's Court and you stay, lose and you're back on the way down within a round or two, which keeps every match meaningful.
It's different from Mexicano, where partners are re-paired by standings but everyone plays on the same set of courts each round. It also differs from Americano and Mixicano, which use a fixed or gender-balanced rotation without any promotion or relegation. If your group wants fixed pairs that stay together instead of individual rotation, Team Mexicano applies the same standings-driven idea to permanent teams.

A padel match can end in a tie, for example 16 to 16 with a 32 point cap. Since King of the Court always needs a winner to decide who promotes, a golden point decides the tie: the next point wins the match and the court.
